Staff Spotlight Pt. 2 6. Best Co-workers why? My favorite past co-worker was Dawn Core. We grew up together, graduated from Riverside, lived out in the country on small farms, and we're Christian sisters who both love the Lord, and want to make a difference in the lives of others. She was such an inspiration to our school and a great mentor. My favorite present co-worker is Lori Roberts. She loves teaching the students, and helping out whenever and wherever she can. We share our struggles, and our joys in life and I am honored to call her my family. 7. What is it about Riverside that makes you want to stay a Pirate? I love Riverside. We have an amazing and supportive administration that not only cares about the students, but also the staff. If we need anything, they are there to help out any way they can. Our staff is pretty amazing as well. What completes us though is the students. Though challenging at times, we still love and appreciate them all. Last, but not least is our community. How awesome it is to have the support that we have from them. To sum it all up, we are a HUGE FAMILY with lots of love. 8. Anything else you would like to say? I would encourage you all to find out what your gifting is....what makes your heart flip-flop, and brings you joy.... and go after it. God has given us all special gifts to use here on earth to bring glory to Him. That's my challenge this season, especially with Thanksgiving Day approaching. If you have no where to go this year, consider serving somewhere. You just might find your JOY.

Doing Staff Spotlight a Day early this week. This week we Spotlight Ms. Longbrake. The internet is not big enough to hold all of the wonderful attributes this lady brings to our school and students. She is kind, patient, sweet, continuously thinking of others. She handles all issues with grace and dignity and treats everyone with great respect. She is the first to jump in and help, and smiles non stop. She get more hugs than anyone else on staff. We love you Ms. Longbrake and and not just this week but everyday we are grateful you are a Pirate. Thanks for being you. 1. Job title and description of what you do. I am the Library Para for all students and staff. I help Mrs. Roberts out when getting new books put into the system, taking out old, organizing and cleaning, scanning books in and out for our students and staff to enjoy, helping the keyboarding students as needed, and my favorite is reading a book and having those meaningful conversations with our students. I love hearing their stories and seeing the expressions on their little faces. Something else that we do here at Riverside which is very special and dear to us is to invite All senior citizens to come into the library, The 2nd Tuesday of each month to serve a meal to them, a little sweet treat, some entertainment, and to listen and love on them. It's from 11:30 to 1:00 and it's free. Another one of my favorites that I'm blessed to be a part of. I also cover recess and lunchroom duties. 2. How long with Riverside? I have worked at Riverside Local Schools for 21 years. 3. Family? I have 3 grown children....Remie, Rusty, and Christine. I am also a grandmother which brings me so much joy. 4. Hobbies? My hobbies are baking, especially at the holidays; flower gardening, and vegetable gardening where I am able to pick and preserve what I've grown; going strawberry picking and making jam; spending time in nature; I've recently gotten back to painting and sketching and finding a lot of joy in it again; spending time with family and friends. 5. Favorites (food, holiday, etc)? My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I am blessed and have much to be thankful for. I have fond memories of gathering around the table with family and sharing a meal. My grandparents lived on a dairy farm while I was growing up, when life seemed so much simpler. Our time together was special.

TOOTH FAIRY ALERT!!!

Yesterday my kinders celebrated Veterans' Day. Thank you to all who have served! 💙❤️

Monday was a big day for our Pirate of the Week, Miss Magnolia!! We celebrated her birthday, her parents came in for her Show & Tell AND she lost a tooth! We learned her horses that she treasures were the same ones her mom played with as a child and we enjoyed her fav cupcakes!❤️

The Student Council Advisors are so proud of how hard their members worked to help organize such a special event! The students started organizing duties and introductions two weeks ago. On the morning of the Veterans Day Assembly, they came to school ready to get to work as soon as the first bell rings to set up the gymnasium. Then we have members that greeted, sang in the choir or played in the band, served breakfast, read at the podium, and finally helped to tear down. Student Council would like to thank the Majesty Quartet for their special music, Don Klingler and his daughter Alyssa Hodge as guest speakers, and our Jr High Social Studies Teacher Jack Switzer for sending in a special message to his school as he continues serving in active duty.
