Its Staff Spotlight Day. Today we spotlight Janice Davis. Janice keeps our payroll straight and helps us all with things like health and life insurance, which can be overwhelming at times. She is our go to for those questions. Janice always has a smile for everyone. She is always saying good morning and giving our students high fives. It is a true blessing to have Janice in our Pirate family. Thanks for ALL you do, for ALL of us Janice.
1. Job title and description of what you do.
My job is Payroll and Benefits. I process the payroll for employees by entering new employees, contracts, tracking work hours, sick time, personal time etc, completing each pay along with quarterly and year end taxes. I also am responsible for employee benefits, the processing/tracking/paying benefits for each employee. I have many other small duties throughout the week and month.
2. How long with Riverside
This is my 19th year.
3. Family
My husband, Jerry passed in 2019 whom I miss terribly. I have two sons and two step-daughters along with 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 2 step grandsons, 2 step granddaughters and 1 step great grandson. My oldest son, Jeremy and his wife, Amanda live outside Jackson Center. My two grandsons Caleb (first grade) and Levi (preschool) attend school here at Riverside. My youngest son, Joe and his wife, Karen live in Virginia Beach. My grandson, Charlie is 3 1/2 and little Brooke will be 2 next month. My stepdaughter, Tauna and her husband, Nick live in Michigan. My stepdaughter, Jill lives here in DeGraff. My step grandchildren are grown and live in Canton (Dusty), Tennessee (Logan-Zander), DeGraff,(Kelsey) and Virginia (Kyle-Army).
4. Hobbies
I have not had any real hobbies for years, but I am always busy doing something. I spend a lot of time working at Five Loaves Food Pantry as the Program Coordinator with this being the beginning of our 16th year. My hobby is spending time with my family and grandchildren, and taking care of my house and yard.
5. Favorites (food, holiday, etc)
I have lots of favorite foods too many to list. Pizza, Salad, and Chicken at the top. My favorite holiday is any holiday that I can spend time with family and friends.
6. Best Co-workers why?
In my lifetime, I have had many best co-workers. I still get together periodically with my co-workers from my previous job to just catch up. The staff at Riverside is fantastic, it is hard to name any certain one, the smiles from each make my day. I spent many years working with Carol Finfrock here at Riverside. We became good friends with much respect for each other and helping each other through times of many changes.
What is it about Riverside that makes you want to stay a Pirate.
I have always been a Pirate, born and raised here. I can't imagine anything else. At my previous job, all my folders always had to be red and blue, they didn't even ask after a while. LOL I have attended sporting events here since my graduation, through my son's sporting events and I will continue through my grandsons and on.
Anything else you would like to say.
I remember when I was hired here and I left my previous job. I told them I was going home and that is how I have always felt. I am at home here. Always a Pirate and proud of it !!

Riverside hosted Logan County 7th Grade Career Day today. Students from Riverside, Bellefontaine, West Liberty, Indian Lake and Benjamin Logan attended.

Reminder: Elementary and High School picture retakes are tomorrow!!!
