Staff Spotlight Day! Today we spotlight Mrs. Shelley Baker. Mrs. Baker leads with a great attitude and a service heart. She is kind, thoughtful and very quick witted. We love her ornery smile and are soooooo greatful that she is a Pirate. Thanks Mrs. Shelley for all you do. If you see Mrs. Baker please stop and tell her thanks for keeping our school clean and healthy. :-)
Bio.
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of your Riverside Staff Spotlight.
My name is Shelley Baker and I have been employed as a Custodian for one year. As one of the custodial staff it is my duty to help keep the facility clean, maintained and safe. I live in Degraff. I am married with two adult children (Pirates) and five grandchildren(Lakers). When I am not working, I spend most of my time with those wonderful grandchildren. It has been a pleasure this year working with other hard working, positive staff, some would say I might have my favorites...But I won't say!
I go to work every day hoping to leave it better than the day before! The best I can!

These are some of the pieces from Brooklyn Valmore that are part of her portfolio that submitted to the Art Institute of Cleveland. She is interested in becoming a Concept Artist which is part of illustration degree. When a student decides to look into a art career and go college for it. The key piece that gets them accepted is their portfolio of art that they have spent a lot of years in high school art building. Brooklyn is now in her 4th year of high school art and I am very proud how she continuously developed her skills as an artist. Art is so much about the person who is making the art and is not only the skill that has to grow but the student has to grow as a person. What inspires Brooklyn is what comes from within her. I am very excited for her to have this possibility of career that can go many places, have many different possibilities and be very exciting. The validation an art student gets from receiving a scholarship offer from their portfolio is something I have so enjoyed watching several students experience and I was very happy for Brooklyn.
