**REMINDER**
*RIVERSIDE ATHLETIC PHYSICALS FOR THE 2024/25 SCHOOL YEAR* The Riverside Health Center will be administering athletic physicals for Riverside athletes for the 2024/25 school year. Riverside athletes that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2024/25 school year can get a physical between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm during the week of May 10th to 17th. The physicals will be free during this time. You must schedule your physical time by calling the 937-585-5981, option 8 for the Health Center This is a new number due to problems with Community Health & Wellness answering system.
*You must bring the signed OHSAA PPE Physical Form with you for the physical. This can be printed from Final Forms (5 pages: Pages 1-3 are medical history; Pages 4-5 are the pages to be completed by the physician.
Its Staff Spotlight day. This week we highlight Mrs. Wheeler. Mrs. Wheeler works with our middle school students and helps teachers in the classroom. She has a great rapport with our students and teachers. She goes above and beyond to help students as well as keeping them on track. She does all this with a smile and grace and great patience. We appreciate all you do for all of us on a daily basis Mrs. Wheeler. We are blessed you are part of our Pirate family.
Bio-
I am a paraprofessional and currently working with two students directly in the 8th grade. I have previously worked with students with special needs. I assist my students with classroom work and provide additional aide for testing. I also enjoy assisting in the classroom with other students and teachers. I have worked for Riverside for five years.
Family-I am married to my wonderful husband Jeremiah and we have 3 awesome kids. Our oldest Natalie, graduated from Riverside in 2020. She graduated from The Modern College Of Design with a degree in Graphic Design and currently lives in Kettering. Our middle child, Chase, is a sophomore and our youngest, Avery is a fifth grader here at Riverside. We also travel to see family out of state as often as we can.
Hobbies- We have a small farm outside of town with goats and chickens and harvest hay from our pasture and other fields three times every summer. We enjoy camping and hiking at Lake Hope and Hocking Hills. We also enjoy having family get togethers down at our pond with campfires, cookouts and fishing. Most of all, we enjoy building. We plan on constructing a tree house on our property in the future.
Favorites- I love to travel to my moms during the weekends and when we go to Frankenmuth, Michigan. There’s something about going home that recharges my batteries. I also love when Natalie comes up to visit and how she still loves to come home when she can. Summer is my favorite season because I love spending time down at the pond, it is my happy place. I love cooking over the campfire and watching the kids roasting marshmallows. I really enjoy spending time with my husband. We get along really well and we love to laugh by roasting each other. The kids are still trying to get used to it.
Best co-workers- I’ve had the privilege to work in every grade including preschool in the building. But I really enjoy working with the jr high kids. I enjoy the conversations and the humor and the fact that they socialize with me. They’re not too cool to talk to me yet. The jr high teachers are great to work with. We share common struggles so it’s easy to talk to them and I enjoy our conversations.
Why Riverside-The Riverside community is all about family and I have purpose. I know that my kids are taken care of at school and I love making a difference for our students. The faculty and administration work hard for our students and put their needs first, and I admire them for that. Working at Riverside gives me purpose and joy everyday.

Varsity Baseball and Varsity Softball games scheduled tonight, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Troy Christian at Riverside, have been cancelled.
**Riverside Athletic Schedule Update**
The J.H. track meet at Fairlawn tonight, Tuesday, April 23, has been cancelled by Fairlawn.
The Evening of Excellence will take place on Wednesday, April 24th at 6:00 pm. Invitations were mailed home last week and an email invite was sent to families. If you have questions, please contact the school office.

**RIVERSIDE ATHLETIC SCHEDULE: APRIL 22-27, 2024**
This past week the kindergarteners received a jar of caterpillars to experience 1st hand their metamorphosis. Over the next few weeks we'll continue to record our observations (as shown in the student example). We are fluttering with joy in anticipation of our future butterflies!
Dominik Stotler represented Riverside at the Kiwanis Luncheon that celebrated Students of the Month for some of the county schools. Keianna Notestine also attended to represent Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.

Staff Spotlight day. Today we highlight Mrs. Shoemaker. Mrs. Shoemaker works with some of our smallest Pirates. She does this with endless patience and great attitude. She is quick to help in any situation she is needed. She is also a proud parent of Pirate boys which keep her running to sporting events. We are blessed with her smile and great sense of humor and are truly blessed she is part of our Pirate staff. Thanks for all you do Mrs. Shoemaker!
Bio-
1. What is your job title and description of what you do?
I am an elementary paraprofessional. I work one on one and assist all the students in the kindergarten class. I love helping all the kiddos with their work and keeping them on task. I also help supervise other grades during lunch and recess.
2. How long with Riverside?
I have been with Riverside for 1 year now!
3. Family?
I have been married to my wonderful husband Randy for 15 years. I have two kids- Guage (14) and Hayes (10), as well as a dog named Tilly and a cat named Stanley.
4. Hobbies?
Busy sports mom, so you can always find me at a hockey rink, football or baseball field. In my spare time I do enjoy making earrings or crafting. I love music and going to concerts!

Favorite place to vacation- Minnesota or Tennessee

I work with some amazing people. The staff at Riverside is fantastic!
What is it about Riverside that makes you want to stay a Pirate?
I love the "kid first" mentality. Everyone works so well together as a big family to do what is best for the students. I am proud to be a pirate!

The Riverside Manufacturing classes are doing a fundraiser to raise money for our program. The event opens tonight at 5:00 PM. This event is completely digital and as hands free as possible. This money will help pay for our catered lunch event if we hit our goal and bring in $3,000! The money also goes to the purchase of SkillsUSA attire, classroom supplies, and other events. We get 50% of what is made on the sale. Please help us out and buy some delicious popcorn!
