The second graders really enjoyed listening to Mrs. Shipp read them a Christmas story!

Yesterday my kinders enjoyed a pretty sweet math lesson! We've been working hard on number sense through 10 frames & we incorporated this focus into building a gingerbread house! We drew numbers (& learned new vocab) to determine amount of candy we could use and had so much fun!

Today is Day 2 of our 12 Days of Self-Care Selfie Challenge for all Staff and High School students - "Don't Be a Grinch! Show Gratitude." These are some of today's submissions from Mrs. Hodge, Miss Steinke, Miss Borchers, and Ms. Robison. ❤️

It's Staff Spotlight day. This week we spotlight the amazing Ms. Matteson . What a blessing to our staff. She deals with headaches and stomach aches and all other kind of aches. She tests our student's hearing and vision and still finds time to help students become CPR certified. She does all this with a giant smile and a great sense of humor. We are so blessed she is a Pirate. Thanks for taking care of us, Nurse Sam. We love you.. 1. Job title and description of what you do. I am the school nurse. I bridge health care and education. I am responsible for the medical treatment of all students with chronic illnesses like seizures and asthma, those needing medication throughout the day, or those with flu-like symptoms or injuries. I complete mandated health screenings of all students and work with teams to ensure compliance with immunizations, health policies and regulations. I recently obtained my certification to teach and certify staff and students in CPR and First Aid. 2. How long with Riverside? 9 years 3. Family? I have 2 daughters; Sierra, a graduate of Riverside and Kelsey, a Junior at Riverside. 4. Hobbies? I like to craft. Cross-stitching is my favorite, but I like all things crafting.Spending time with my friends and family is my favorite thing to do. 5. Favorites (food, holiday, etc)? My favorite holidays are Christmas and Halloween. Favorite food is probably italian. I love cows, pigs, goats and the farm theme. 6. Best Co-workers why? I think all of my co-workers are absolutely amazing. It's hard to pick out "the best". Mrs. Fleming, Mrs. Hess, Mrs. Fauley, Mrs. Wyan, and T. Hodge are all favorites of my kiddos and have made a huge impact in their lives, which means a lot to me. Mr. DeMotte fixes technology issues with amazing patience and humor. Angie Shoe and Nikki Harshbarger hold it down for me if I am unavailable; I cannot thank them enough. Our Admin team is great and understanding. The entire teaching staff is supportive and caring. What is it about Riverside that makes you want to stay a Pirate? I love that we are a small community, so no child is lost along the way. We are able to serve their needs and meet them where they are. Each student is seen, loved and respected at Riverside. We have great kids. The staff at Riverside is like family.
