Its Staff Spotlight Day. This week we spotlight Valerie Scott. Valarie is one of our extrodianary cafeteria staff. She works hard to keep us all fed and happy. Dealing with all kinds of different request every day. She does all this with a beautiful smile on her face and a great attitude. We always have a great variety of food for students and staff. Thanks for all of your hard work Valarie, We are so blessed you are a Pirate. We love you.
1. Job title and description of what you do.
I am a cook here at the school. I not only prepare and serve the students their lunch every day; I also make up the food order every week, prepare the lunch menu for the month and I complete the paperwork every day for the state records.
2. How long with Riverside?
This makes my 7th year working here at Riverside.
3. Family?
I have been married to my husband Rick for almost 40 years now. We have three fantastic children;Ashley, Eric and Brittany. We also have a son-in-law,Greg and a soon to be son-in-law Jim. We have been blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren;Laileigh(16),Cooper(14),Mckenna(10),Sawyer(8),Oakley(6),Josie(4),Boone(2) and Delaney who is almost 5 months. It is the best feeling in the world to have 8 littles call me ‘mamaw’!!!
4. Hobies.
My hobbies include camping, reading and spending time with my family.
5. Favorites (food, holiday, etc)?
My favorite holiday is Easter! I love this holiday because it s the time of year that everything becomes new again. I just love seeing all the flowers and trees come alive and remembering the true meaning of this holiday. I also enjoy spending the day with my family.
6. Favorite Co-workers why?
As for favorite co-workers I can’t name just one. When I first started here I had a few ladies who helped showed me the ropes and taught me a lot;my sister Sherry,Pam Pope and Jamee Cafe’. I miss all three of them!! But right now we have a great crew also (The Lunch Bunch) and these ladies aren’t just my co-workers; they have all become good friends!!
7. What is it about Riverside that makes you want to stay a Pirate.
I have always been a Pirate and that will never change! I was born and raised right here in DeGraff and graduated from the old school in ‘83. My husband and my children are also Riverside graduates. So this is home to me and where I plan to stay. I really enjoy all the kids and getting to have those few minutes everyday at breakfast and lunch interacting with them while we serve them a healthy, delicious meal!!!

In ADDITION to our other pumpkin activities, we sorted seeds into 10 frames to count 100 pumpkin seeds! 💙🎃❤️

On Monday & Tuesday my kinders enjoyed tasting pumpkin products, using different tools to take measurements, and decorating our pumpkins. In the picture of the cubes measuring the height of the pumpkin, we discussed why this was a bad measurement. ERRORS=LEARNING. We ❤️ growing!

On Monday we celebrated Kash's birthday. Thank you for letting your friends spend your special day with you! 💙🎂❤️

On Monday, Kash, Maggie, Hunter, Illyia, Harley, and Dawson were awarded for their accomplishments of reaching 100 DOJO points and earning their bendy M🤪NSTER!! WAY TO GO!! ❤️💙
