Staff Spotlight Day. Today we spotlight Mrs. Burchett. Her endless patience and positive attitude have not gone unnoticed. She is the calm presence that our students need, especially on days when they have had a rough time or a tough week. Your dedication and support make a significant impact on our Pirate family, and we are truly thankful to have you as part of our team. Thank you for your hard work and for being a source of comfort and encouragement for our students. We appreciate everything you do, and we are grateful for the positive influence you have on our school community. BIO: I am a paraprofessional. I have been working at Riverside as a para pro for five years. The first four years I've had the privilege to work in several different classrooms with a lot of different students within our Elementary. As a parapro my job is to help keep students on task in a classroom setting. Some students may require extra guidance, and I assist the classroom teachers to help provide that for our students. I also help monitor students during their breakfast, lunch, and recess. This year my role as a parapro has looked a little different than in the past. This year I have been helping our Intervention Specialists with contacting and scheduling their meetings with our students' parents or guardians. With some of our Intervention team I also help gather some paperwork and deliver the paperwork to students. Anything that I can do for them to help lighten their load! This year I also sit with K-12 students who have to serve in school suspension (ISS). I help these students get their assignments from teachers, help them understand their assignments in order for them to get their classwork completed, help them get their finished classwork returned back to their teachers in a reasonable time in order for them to receive credit. I have been married to my husband, Travis Burchett, for 21 years. We were both born and raised in this community. We both are Riverside graduates as well. Together we have four boys, Jayden (20), Dylyn (18), Maddax (12), and Preston (10). So, with four boys my hobbies are attending and or watching a lot of football and basketball games. I love all holidays because this is when we gather with family and friends to play games, eat delicious food, and enjoy each others' company while making memories! I love my job! Everyone here at Riverside is so wonderful to work with. We all truly respect and appreciate one another. Our students and our community are awesome! Once a Pirate, always a Pirate....#Proud to be a Pirate!

RIVERSIDE ATHLETICS: March 4-9, 2024

Congratulations to Riverside senior bowler Sam King on a great season. Sam finished 43rd out of 101 bowlers at the state tournament with a 563 series. Sam bowled in the state tournament 3 out of his 4 years in high school. He qualified individually for the state tournament his freshman and senior seasons and bowled on the Riverside State Champion team as a junior. Great Job Sam!

The second graders had so much fun celebrating Leap Day!!

Riverside Bridge to Learning Event is next Thursday, March 7 from 5:00-6:30. If you have children between the ages of 0 and 5 in your life or know someone who does, this is a must attend event. 19 Community Partners from Logan County will here to share free info and materials.

It’s Staff Spotlight Day. This week we spotlight Mrs. Monroe. Mrs. Monroe is a Paraprofessional in our high school. She goes above and beyond to help all of our student and staff members alike. She always has a smile and hello for all. Her great sense of humor and hard work make her a big asset to every room she is in. We are blessed to have Mrs. Monroe in our Pirate family. Thank you for all you do for us.  Bio: I am a paraprofessional /one on one for the high school. My job consists of helping the students that I am in the classroom with. I help where I need to help. I also help the high school Intervention Specialists or the teachers. I have been with Riverside for 11 years now. I began my journey in the middle school with the 5th/6th graders, then to the elementary side with the 2nd/3rd graders. I also spent one year in the middle school with the 8th graders, and now I have spent the last 5 years in the high school. My family includes my husband, Beau, we have been married for 23 years. We have three children. Amber, is an Intervention Specialist at Triad. Jarrett just got out of the Marine Corps in September and is employed as a Diesel Mechanic. Paige is in her second year of college at Kent State University, Studying Law. I also have a Belgian Malinois, Zeke who is 3 years old, and a German Shepard/ Malionis, Stella who is 2 years old. I love to craft! Lately, my second hobby is my Blue Star Mothers of America group. We are a group of mothers with active or Veteran military members. As a group, we support the deployed servicemen and women with care packages, which consist of items they may need while overseas. We are a fun group of ladies who love and support our military as well as each other! In October of 2023, I was elected to the Department of Ohio Blue Star Mothers as the recording secretary. My favorite holiday is Halloween, which is weird because I’m scared of everything. I think I enjoyed the scare. My second favorite holiday is Christmas, I enjoy the time spent with family and friends. My favorite food is spaghetti or anything with pasta. Riverside hands down is a family! We have the best coworkers here. I have been in many places in our school and it is straight across the board with the support not only for our students but our staff as well. I have many coworkers that I am friends with outside of school. I have seen our school go through many changes over the years, one thing that never changes is the love and support for our students as well as our staff, this forever continues to grow. Riverside is one big family. I love how supportive and caring we are here at Riverside.

JH GIRLS AND JH BOYS BASKETBALL AWARDS NIGHT Monday, March 4, 2024: 6:00 pm in the Riverside Auditeria.

STATE INDOOR TRACK MEET: SATURDAY, MARCH 2, AT THE SPIRES INSTITUTE IN GENEVA, OHIO. Field events start at 10:30 am. Congratulations to Riverside junior, Travis Brooks, who qualified for the State Indoor Track Meet. Travis qualified in shot put (14th) and weight (9th). The weight event consists of throwing a 25 pound weight as far as you can. GOOD LUCK TRAVIS!

Today Logan shared his Culture Project on the Marshall Islands. He brought in Marshallese donuts, the flag, pictures, and a woven purse. Thank you, Mr. Jenkins, for sharing your a part of your heritage (and mine❤️) with your classmates! 💙

Open Enrolled Application deadline is approaching! Current Open Enrolled students must submit no later than April 15, 2024. You will be notified of that decision by April 30, 2024. Any current student applications not meeting the April 15th deadline will be automatically denied and reviewed on a case by case basis along with any new applicants.
